Election Year Real Estate MarketHow will the outcome of this Presidential election affect housing? The research all points to positives. The Meyers Research group looked at the past 13 election cycles and found an approximate 15% drop in sales activity in the November of a federal election year. But their research notes that “the year after a presidential election is the best of the four-year cycle.” Furthermore, the report states, “This suggests that demand for new housing is not lost because of election uncertainty, rather it gets pushed out to the following year as long as the economy stays on track.”

One piece of the housing puzzle that has been incredibly consistent is interest rates. This week, Freddie Mac reported a twelfth historic low with the average on a 30-year…

Haunted HousesOctober not only brings along crisp fresh air, but is also a time for spooky decorations and Halloween fun!  If your home is on the market, the question on whether or not to go all out with your Halloween decorations usually comes up.  Unlike some holidays, Halloween is usually a lot of exterior decor that can be creepy, spooky and sometimes frightening giving your home a haunted look!!  Our advice during this holiday is to keep it fun and maybe a little on the minimal side.  As potential buyers walk around your home, they may not want to walk through your "graveyard" or large tree spider web.  Keep those chilling scenes out of main walkways.  Pumpkins and Jack-O-Laterns are always fun especially as it starts to get darker earlier in the evening, just…

Fishing in Palmetto Dune Hilton Head Island

It is difficult to explain the kinds of joys in life that can come from calm moments, where the flow of time isn’t as overbearing as in day to day experience. To understand these sorts of moments, one has to really experience them for oneself.

The Joy of Fishing in Palmetto Dunes

Fishing in the lagoon systems of Palmetto Dunes is one satisfying way to do this. On the lagoon, there is a smooth interplay of the warm air offset by the occasional cool breeze that blows through the reed grass lining the banks of the lagoon. The wind blows over the water causing ripples drowned in the sun to glisten like cut diamonds.

The sea air mingles with the smell of the lush vegetation that permeates the area around the water. Everything seems smooth, and…

One day, after riding my bike from the beach at Sea Pines (semipublic) to Coligny Beach (public) and back, I was walking my bike off the beach when I was stopped by a couple walking onto the sand.

After they…
