What is a Casita and why you need one!

The word "Casita" translates from Spanish to English as small house; but it can actually be a semi-detached or separate structure from the main house.   Casitas, ADU’s (Accessory Dwelling Units), and any extra livable space on one’s property understandably adds to the price. But, just think about the utility and flexibility a Casita adds: 

1. Extra space: Casitas provide additional living space for guests or family members. They can be used as a guest house, home office, art studio - pick your hobby and have a dedicated space for it!

2. Privacy: A casita provides privacy for guests and homeowners alike. It can be a great option for those who want to live near family or friends but still want their own space.

3. Flexibility: Casitas can be designed to suit a variety of needs and preferences. They can be built to be a separate dwelling or attached to the main house. They can be small and simple or large and luxurious.

4. Increased property price: Adding a casita to your property could increase its price. This is particularly true if the casita is well-designed, functional, and aesthetically pleasing.

Take, for example, Teresa Karcher's 1 Sunbow Lane listing in Sun City.   From the front, you can't even tell there is a separate casita!  The detached building has its own mini fridge and full bath and can be used as separate guest quarters, yoga or meditation space, a man cave or she shed, or even a fun date place!  There are only a handful of homes with casitas in Sun City Hilton Head so this opportunity isn't always available.  Imagine living on a street called “Sunbow”. Imagine having a Casita of your own. Imagine, and you will realize why you need one!!
