March 7-14, 2022, International Piano Competition
Spring is often heard before it is seen, as choruses of songbirds return to announce the arrival of spring, along with splendid music from the Hilton Head International Piano Competition. Budding young and talented piano players compete from March 7-14. You can experience recitals in-person or on a YouTube Channel. Children and students are free for all rounds except the final on March 14.
The first two rounds and a lecture/recital are at St. Luke’s Church
- Round I is March 7 & 8 from 1:30 – 4:35 pm and 7:00 – 9:05 pm
- Round II is March 9 & 10 from 1:30 – 5:05 pm and 7:00 – 9:25 pm
- Classes, Lecture, and Recital is on March 11 from 9:30-4:55 pm
The semi-final and final rounds are at First Presbyterian Church
- Round III is March 12 from 1:00 pm – 4:40 pm and 7:30 pm – 9:15 pm
- Round IV is March 14 at 7:00 pm
March 21-27, 2022, Wine and Food Festival Welcome the spring equinox on March 21 at the 36th annual Hilton Head Island’s Wine and Food Festival. The fresh scent of the azaleas blooming is mixed with the pleasant aroma of original Lowcountry delicacies and award-winning wine across the island. Take advantage of the extended daylight hours to experience the week-long celebration of the island’s culture as it bursts to life from its grassroots to seasoned cultural events with live entertainment and a showcase of chefs. The signature public food tasting event and the popular Sip and Stroll are at Celebration Park near Coligny Beach, while restaurants throughout the island are involved in the festival.

As spring songbirds awaken Hilton Head Island, the music in the air adds a fresh dimension to the season, along with the joyful sound of the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra. This one-of-a-kind show highlights a distinguished piano performance by Awadagin Pratt for the world premiere of Jessie Montgomery’s piano concerto and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade, Op. 35.
