Fall
Food Festivals: Food festivals are a great way to connect with your community. Enjoy delicious food cooked by chefs across the Sea Pines in the Autumn at the Hilton Head Shrimp Festival. This festival has a bit of something tasty and enjoyable for everyone of all ages.
High School Sporting Games: Friday night lights are always a fun time thanks to the energizing school spirit. Football games are a great way to spend an evening outside in the fall weather, while the school basketball games are perfect for when temperatures start to cool down.
Winter
Season of Shopping: Get everyone on your Christmas list a unique present from the Hilton Head Holiday Markets. Open through December, local artisans and vendors craft gifts and holiday treats for you and friends to enjoy during the holiday season. Spend a couple of hours wandering the rows of booths of art and food to make sure you see everything! Get mulled wine while you’re walking for the traditional Christmas market experience.
Annual Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration: Celebrate the Gullah people and culture during the entire month of February at the Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration. Keynote speakers include native Hilton Head Islanders who have amassed a large following through their writing, cuisine, and art. The month-long celebration kicks off on at the beginning of February with a breakfast sampling of authentic Gullah food.
Spring
Sea Pines Forest Preserve: Enjoy serene landscapes and quick hiking trails at the Sea Pines Forest Preserve. The trails are easy to complete and shade is plentiful. Restrooms are onsite and water fountains are available so you can refill your water bottles. Pack food and enjoy lunch in the picnic area surrounded by nature. If you want to get up close (but not too close) with the freshwater lake plants and wildlife, like alligators, you can book a trip with an approved vendor.
Easter Celebrations: When Easter rolls around, the Easter Extravaganza is a fun and free event that is a favorite in the community. The egg hunt starts at 11 a.m. sharp. Pockets Full of Sunshine members are helping to fill those eggs so there will be plenty to find!
Summer
Hilton Head Beaches: Hilton Head Island’s beach season is from May through September. Coligny Beach Park, Islander’s Beach Park, and Driessen Beach Park are popular beach access points along the island’s eastern coast. Remember “Don’t leave a lasting impression” when exploring the Lowcountry. This neighborly motto encourages all beach visitors to not litter or interact with the wildlife. That includes keeping your dogs on a leash at all times and cleaning up after them.
Stay-at-Home Fun: Sometimes you won’t have the time or the energy to get out of the house, especially on a hot Southern day. Invite a few friends and loved ones over and try one of these 16 fun yard games. Large-yard games like a giant Four in-a Row game or a Tower Tumble will also turn your Hilton Head backyard into an outdoor arcade.
Coming Soon
In 2025, two new neighborhood parks are coming to Hilton Head Island. The Taylor Family Park and the Patterson Family Park will both offer playgrounds, large lawn picnic areas, and walking trails. This will give your hours of more activities to spend outdoors in the Lowcountry. Hilton Head Island is a vibrant community complete with neighbors ready to celebrate life in beautiful South Carolina. While you can never go wrong with a trip to the golf course in Hilton Head, remember these wholesome activities the next time you’re ready for the next adventure.
