Patrick’s Day Parade – Sunday, March 13

The first day of Spring, so says the calendar, is Sunday, March 20, but for Islanders, it arrives a week early at 3:00 in the afternoon. The Island’s largest one-day event started in 1983 as Tom Reilley, along with family and friends, sloshed around the block, rain pouring down, celebrating St. Patrick and shamrocks. Today, the much-anticipated annual event fills quickly with 150 floats, marching band, business, charity and school entries and nearly 30,000 spectators lining Pope Avenue. “Kiss me, I’m Irish! And join everyone at the parade!”
