ARRIVALS
Hilton Head Airport lands convenience with each plane that glides through the clouds and smoothly touches down on its 5000 feet of runway. Fresh air, sweetened with fragrant hibiscus plants, greets you as you step off the plane directly in the center of beautiful Hilton Head Island. You can walk to the baggage claim in less than a minute and then head outdoors to easily accessible transportation. Reservations at Hilton Head Airport’s car rental agencies or taxi and limo services transition you quickly from the air to land transportation. Most island destinations are less than a 10 to 20-minute drive, starting from the airport’s ideal location at 130 Beach City Road.
DEPARTURES
Leaving the sandy beach, golf courses, and friendly islanders can be difficult, sad, but luckily, it’s not difficult. At Hilton Head Airport, drop-off is near their efficient check-in and security. The airport also has ample parking, and your space number is all you need to pay at the indoor automated service before your flight. Vending machines and a simple counter-service restaurant offer select pre-flight snacks and drinks. As your plane takes off, an excellent photo-post is the aerial view of the island’s “shoe” shape, which is only a step away from the Atlantic Ocean. 
NONSTOP FLIGHTS
The daily offseason travel schedule has approximately seven nonstop commercial flights to and from Hilton Head, HHH. (HHH is the airport code, aka Hip, Hip, Hooray!). Airline schedules vary; therefore, check their websites for specific flight details. Recent air travel departing and arriving at HHH has included:
American Airlines has had daily, nonstop flights to Charlotte, with seasonal direct flights to Philadelphia, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Washington Reagan, and Boston.
Delta Airlines has had daily, nonstop flights to Atlanta, with seasonal availability to New York, LaGuardia, and Boston.
United Airlines has had daily, nonstop flights to Washington Dulles, with seasonal direct flights to Newark, Chicago O’Hare, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, and St. Louis.
ADDITIONAL FLIGHT OPTIONS
Hilton Head residents and visitors are fortunate to have an additional selection of flights at the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport. The average drive time is about one hour from Hilton Head to the larger airport in Pooler, GA.
PRIVATE AVIATION
Private planes, jets, and helicopters are welcome at Hilton Head Airport. More than half of the island’s air travel is privately operated with personal flights, charter flights, and sightseeing tours. Signature Flight Support (HXD airport code) has abundant amenities for private air travel. They can accommodate long-term parking for your car and your plane in their 6,400 sq. ft. hangar, plus catering, flight planning, and more. Its entrance is directly across from Hilton Head Airport at 62 Gateway Circle.
