With the RBC Heritage bringing some of the world’s best golfers to our shores, we thought we’d provide a bit of information to help you hit the links this season.

Hilton Head Island has long been regarded as among the top golfing destinations in the entire country. The island’s 20 championship golf courses amounting to over 400 holes has earned it the much-deserved nickname of “Golf Island”.

The mild South Carolina climate also lends itself well to a long golfing season. Late March and early April mark the start of Hilton Head’s top golfing season, before humid summer conditions make it a less appealing past time.

A Gallup-Healthways State of Well-being survey ranks the Hilton Head-Bluffton area at 9 in a ranking of a total of 189 communities across the United States.

Perhaps its the area's rich historical heritage, or the region's renowned reputation for sport fishing, golf and other recreational activities. Whatever the root cause is, the fact is the Bluffton and Hilton Head corner of South Carolina is literally teeming with delicious restaurants and a thriving arts scene, in an addictive small-town setting that locals love, and travelers love to visit.

The first annual Port Royal Boat & Fishing Show is coming to the Maritime Center. Scheduled to take place the first weekend in April, Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 2nd, the show is designed as a service to the boating and fishing community of Beaufort County, as well the local businesses that rely on their patronage.

Boat dealers will be on hand with boats on display in the water, as well as on land. Vendors of fishing tackle and boating equipment will also be attending with a wide selection of new products for use out on the water. There will also be plenty more to see and do with seafood vendors, fishing seminars by professionals and even introductory fishing classes for the kids.
